Georgia and Amanda, two mates with lived experience coming out the wazoo, talk all things funny and f*cked about living with a mental health condition. Because you don't have to go loco alone.
My name is Georgia and I am co-host of the Going Loco podcast. I am a trained opera singer and have three boys, so it’s bulk dicks at my place. Last year I had a midlife crisis and decided to give stand-up comedy a go. I also entered a competition with The Moth, the long running international storytelling event and podcast, and I won you guys! Two of my favourite things in the world are 90s power ballad sing-alongs and making my co-host Amanda cackle. You can often find me in a paddock, sitting out the front of the tiny house my husband built. I’ll have a vino in hand and my whippet Maggie at my feet. If the wind is blowing the wrong way, the whiff coming off the homemade composting toilet will be nauseating. But there I’ll be, soaking up the sunset, to the soothing sounds of 4 stroke motorbikes at full throttle. I also have bipolar 1 disorder. My best qualities are my inappropriate affect, banking your comments for later and having the most labile mood in the room.
Amanda Robinson
Hi, I’m Amanda and the co-host of Going Loco podcast. I write fiction because apparently I hate money. I won the 2018 Affirm press mentorship for a manuscript that plagues me daily with its unfinishedness. I’m a one-eyed Collingwood supporter, though I currently have all my teeth. My two favourite things are my twin sister and my dog, Brian. You can often find me reading a book beside my open fireplace due to energy prices convincing me that $200 worth of firewood per week is more economical. Or taking ridiculously long baths with a book because the fire has gone out. I also have depression. My ‘best’ qualities are saying yes to everything, being over-the-top enthusiastic, having more front than Myer when I’m feeling unwell and loving everything you cooked for me because it tastes better when someone else does it.
